It was our very FIRST Christmas away from Rory's family this year, so there were some bitter-sweet feelings this time around. But, we survived and were able to carry on some of our own traditions and that proved to be very fun and cozy with our own little family. Some of the things we got to do this Christmas were:
*seeing the AMAZING lights at Temple Square
*making Mom's famous Candy Cane pastry things and handing them out to our friends
*Baking, baking, and more baking....but we forgot to make gingerbread houses :(
*Spending time together, went to see "The Bee Movie" (everyone except Mom and Gideon)
*played in the SNOW!!! We've got enough to last us until April...or May!
* Gideon got pneumonia and has been sick for five weeks, though we think he is actually getting better now
All in all we had a wonderful vacation together and it was REALLY nice to have our daddy home for 2 weeks. The kids were happy to go back to school (and so was mommy) and Dirk was able to go to the rededication of the Capitol Building in SLC where he works. The MoTab sang, Pres. Hinckley gave the dedicatory prayer, and he sat right next to the amazing organist for the MoTab the entire time. Needless to say, he LOVES his job!
Gideon (shown at three months below) and the rest of our family wishes you a happy and great 2008!!!
