Dirk's Trip to Alaska

Hey, everyone. This is Dirk posting. Okay, since we don't update our blog very often, I suppose that means that once in awhile when we do, you might be surprised.

Long story short, I have moved to Juneau, and today was my very first day working for the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services.

I left "sunny" Smithfield, Utah at about 8 AM on Thursday, November 11th. So I spent my Veterans' Day 2010 driving up to Seattle. On Friday, I completed the rest of my lower 48 drive to Bellingham, WA, where I caught the Alaska Marine Highway ferry to Juneau, Alaska. I arrived on Monday the 15th at 4:30 AM and started my new job downtown this morning.

I am going to love my job. Both the people and the opportunity will be great to work with.

I am going to try to do a slideshow in the blog to show you all the pictures from the ferry trip and a few from Juneau, too.

Thanks for all of yours prayers and support over this trying time for our family!
